Movement Matters

In making the first step in your Journey to a Healthier You, think about what kind of "Movement Matters" to you! What motivates you? Here are a few examples: Yoga, Running, Lifting Weights, Dance, High Intensity Workouts, Swimming, Biking, Hiking, Sports ect... Think of what brings joy to your soul. Is it a quiet place very serene or do you like a loud environment? Do you like to sweat. I know a few people who don't like to sweat and of course that wont bring you joy or motivate you. Think of when you like to move the most in your day? All of these questions effect how you move and when you move.

I have found research stating that when you move it stimulates the brain to activate the Central Nervous System (CNS). It is imperative that we stimulate the CNS for many reasons. Some of the benefits would include:
Neurological Re-Patterning: re-mapping the brain to develop better proprioception, balance, attention,
memory, eye-tracking, behavior, sensory integration, and motor skills.
Body Connectivity and Alignment: becoming aware of the visceral & muscular systems that support the
body, leading to correct use of body structures, helping people of all ages move with ease and coordination.
Increased blood and oxygen flow to the respiratory system and brain leading to improved focus and
attention.
Broad Assessment: becoming aware of children with sensory and motor deficits, which may manifest in
social, emotional, physical, or cognitive delays or difficulties.

So in bringing you back to the main question How do you Move? What bring you Joy? I found that kick boxing isn't something I enjoy. I have however found that taking part of weight training (strength training), High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Yoga, and Zumba I found Joy in Moving. I want to move I want to sweat. I also love and enjoy walking, running, biking and hiking with my family. All of these things bring joy into my life and and stimulate my CNS.

I encourage you to find what kind of Movement Matters to you and move 5 days a week doing what you love. Below is a saying that I want to share.

"Do what you Love & Love what you do"!

Exercise and Date Night With Your Hubbie

Are you in a rut looking for ideas for date nights? I know we have experienced this. One of the best moments with my Husband is taking his hand and going for a walk. There we have the opportunity to visit about all of life's challenges. It is our quiet time to reflect on our joys and sorrows. This is a time to re create goals while getting some moderate paced exercise in.

Over the last year we have incoprorated walking, biking, running and hiking into our dates. We have a gym membership and go together as well. Jeramie also likes it when I put him through an intense workout where he is lifting weights and working up a sweat. Date night can be at home, busting out a 3-5 min power drill during commercials watching a good show or as elaborate as going to the gym.

Keep these fun tips in mind next time you plan your date night!
