Events

In 2010 I started the Banks Elementary Brave Run. I came up with an idea of a 5K/10K race for raising much needed money for technology at Banks Elementary School. The idea has turned into a very successful and fun community event.

The first race in June 2011 raised $8,000 and the money was used for overhead projectors in all classrooms.  The event in June 2012 hit the $9,000 mark and 33 tablets with a charging cart were purchased for classroom use.  With your support we look forward to the 2013 results!

Each year there is a fun theme and prize at stake for the elementary student body.  The principal, Mrs. Sewell, has graciously volunteered to do the following on race day, before the main event, when we hit the following registration goals:

Theme: Nerd up and run!
50 registrations: suspenders and a lab coat.
100 registrations: large glasses with tape.
150 registrations: pocket protector and calculator in pocket of lab coat.
200 registrations: big frizzy hair wig.
250 registrations: fake teeth
300 registrations: walk around with toilet paper stuck to shoe.
350 registrations: large sign on back of coat that says "hug me".

We are very excited for the upcoming Saturday, May 18, 2013 event and hope that you will join us!  We invite you to dress like a nerd and 'Nerd up and run!'

Registration begins at 7AM
Free Kids dash begins at 8:30AM
5K/10K Run and Walk begins at 9:00AM

Student 5K/10K: $10
BSD Employees: $10
Kids Dash(12 years and under): free
Dri-fit t-shirt(optional): $10
Day of Race: race fees increase by $10
